taco meat as you messed it up! But thank goodness you just handed over the spatula and we got it all fixed
up and enjoyed our dinners together. This is just one of my many great memories.. And I will def be making
Oreo Pistacho Dessert in your honor more often! Miss you and love you...

CoolAlthough I only knew Alex for a short time she made an impact in my life. She always had a smile on her face and joked around alot. Such a polite girl and became a part of our family. She called my mom "mama"and even picked out her own food when we went grocery shopping. Alex was a good friend of my sister Ali and they hung out alot. One memory I have of Alex is when we went on a mini road trip to watch my sister's bball game. On the drive I remember listening to Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA" over and over and singing with her. On the way back we went to Panda Express at the OHare Oasis and sat and watched the cars drive by. I lived across the street from her when I lived in Grayslake and one night there were fire trucks and police at her house because of a small fire. I called her to see if her and her dad were alright.  I cared about that girl. Just like many many others in her life. Not sure what was going through her head but it's devastating and heart breaking. Alex- you will be greatly missed.
Tim Froehlig You inspired others November 26, 2012

When I first met Alex while working as a reporter for the Lake County Journal, I never could have imagined the roller coaster ride her and her teammates were about to take me on.

What started in a small gym in Johnsburg with a conference championship on a cold January night became something special....something no one could have ever imagined. Alex was a huge part of that.

She told me once how when she was little, she kept a photo she took of her and former Grayslake basketball star Kayla Ming. She explained how Kayla inspired her to want to play basketball when she grew up.

I fondly recall thinking after how well Alex played during that remarkable season how she, too, was certainly inspiring young boys and girls in the stands to want to do the same thing someday. She wasn't just out there playing...she was leaving an example behind that would withstand the test of time...an an example that her family, friends and teammates could be proud of.

I also recall people walking up to her, young children asking her for autographs. You could see the pure joy in her face. I guarantee you there are countless young boys and girls who are playing basketball or wanting to because of her to this very day.

A 22-game school record winning streak, a regional and sectional title....it gives me chills to this day when I fondly recall those moments. Not just because I am a GCHS grad myself, but because those days were one of those rare times I was lucky enough to know something amazing was happening WHILE I was covering the event...something historic. Thousands of people spilling onto the court in celebration. She was part of why that happened. And always will be.

Thanks for giving me memories I will never, ever forget, Alex, her friends, teammates and family. You will never truly understand just how many people's lives Alex touched. Way more than you can imagine.

When I First Met Alex, She Looked At Me And Stared There Wasnt To Many Words. I Just Know That Look From Any Where. Then We Started To Converse, Then We Both Lightened Up, With Laughter. We Had All The Same Classes At UWW And We Hung Out And I Asked "What Did You Think About Me When You First Saw Me?" She Replied "I Thought You Were A Hood A** Black Guy, With All The Tattoos!" Then She Hugged Me And Said "But I Was Wrong Your Amazing." Best Memories. The Good Die Young, R.I.P Alex Scarbro Gone But Never Forgotten!
